Restoring Dignity, Keeping Girls in School
The Challenge: On Rusinga Island, many young women and adolescent girls face severe challenges managing their menstrual health due to poverty. Without access to affordable sanitary products, girls frequently miss school days every month, creating an unfair gap in their education and limiting their future potential.
Our Impact: Rusinga CBO is actively closing this gap. We have successfully distributed essential sanitary pads to over one hundred women and school-going girls across the island. This simple yet vital intervention provides them with the tools to manage their hygiene safely, comfortably, and with deep dignity. By restoring their confidence, we are drastically reducing school absenteeism and ensuring that every girl has the opportunity to complete her education uninterrupted.
