Support for Orphan Children: Community Football Academy
Nurturing Hope and Talent Through Sport
The Challenge: Rusinga Island has been heavily impacted by the historical and ongoing realities of the HIV and AIDS epidemic. As a result, many children have been left orphaned or highly vulnerable, lacking access to structured social support, mentorship, and safe recreational spaces to escape the stresses of extreme poverty.
Our Impact: To give these children a safe haven and a community to belong to, we founded the Rusinga CBO Community Football Academy. We provide our young athletes with essential sports gear, including cleats, footballs, uniforms, and professional training materials. Beyond teaching athletic skills, the academy offers a highly structured, supportive environment where vulnerable children and orphans receive life mentorship, build lasting friendships, and find a profound sense of belonging that promotes their holistic psychological and physical development.
